ReD is based on the underlying technology of RR’s information lifecycle management platform, and as such, incorporates many of the same powerful capabilities. Functionality that sets ReD apart includes:
Advanced Analytics
Search and analytics tools allow ReD to identify and refine a set of relevant custodians and documents. ReD provides advanced search capabilities, including concept search, communication mapping and email thread analysis, as well as more traditional methodologies (e.g., keyword and metadata).
Automated Review
ReD provides predictive coding via Support Vector Machine technology, a supervised machine-learning tool. It enables RR to model the characteristics unique to a small sample of coded documents accurately, and to automatically apply that model to code any number of similar documents. In this way, ReD will increase accuracy and consistency, and will dramatically reduce the time and costs associated with reviewing large populations of documents.
Automated Workflow Engine
ReD includes an integrated workflow engine that tracks and automates the handling of all loading, culling, search, review, and production activities – providing consistency and repeatability. Within workflows, an enterprise can pre-build a structure of search terms, review queues, etc. The workflow remains active to ensure that any new documents entering a matter are evaluated and handled in exactly the same manner as all prior documents. Workflows are especially valuable in complex cases: rolling productions can be handled automatically, and queues can be specified so that each attorney can concentrate on reviewing in his particular area of focus without the administrative overhead normally associated with the ongoing organization and assignment of document sets throughout the process.
Self-Provisioning
ReD enables self-provisioning of all essential site activities. Through RR’s Media Manager and other exposed settings, users can self-load and produce documents, set security, organize reviews, and generally administer an entire matter without needing technical assistance.
Scalable Architecture
ReD is built on an Oracle database in order to ensure a truly robust back-end. ReD also has a grid based processing engine that sits alongside the database. By offloading processing activities, such as TIFFing, OCR, and productions, we have created the most scalable and cost-effective architecture on the market today, and we use that scalability to pass along savings and performance to our clients. ReD is one of the few products in the marketplace architected in this fashion. Given the size of complex litigation today, including the number of documents, the number of users and groups, the complexity of permissions, and the need for speed, only a robust and scalable database is acceptable.
